Formatted the PS3 today and restored to factory condition.....I did this because it would not play Blue Ray movies, esp Avatar and would not play any PS3 games....after the reformatting, setting it up once again for the Internet, I put the movie in (Avatar)and guess what.....it would still not play. I then proceeded to try and play COD 2 Modern Warfare and guess what...it still would not play either....
It seems to me if you pay over $400.00 for something it should last over 2 years. I haven't called Sony yet because I am pretty sure (from researching the net)they will just tell me its out of warranty and to send it in and they will fix it for $150.00 plus shipping.
The thing that really bothers me is that it broke while updating itself over the Internet. From the research I've done so far it appears that while applying this update a glitch happened to cause the firmware (update) to become corrupt. Whats really annoying is that there is no option except to update if you want to be connected to the Internet.
Sony should do something about this...I am going to call them and when i get my answers I will update here.
